Drove up from Baltimore. Picked up some friends in Phoenixville, PA. A hot and thirsty day. I remember a ten foot pile of empty beer bottles at the entrance. Some of the best live Dead ever.

1st concert ever, I was brainwashed at the age of 14. Never been the same, saw them roughly 120 times. All good times, it was that sense of adventure…..

Flew them back and forth from the hotel by exit seven on the Jersey Turnpike.and the racetrack
. The downcard was The Marshal Tucker Band along with The New Riders of the Purple Sage. It was my son’s third birthday as well as my first time my flying at night as a civilian pilot. The next day l told someone that l had flown some band named The Greatful Dead. I didn’t have a clue. Jerry Garcia ? Who’s he ? Duh ! The prior spring l was lettering a wall in Burlington, Vermont when two guys asked me if l could design a logo and paint a sign for their new ice cream shop. I told them I couldn’t because I was moving to New Jersey to fly helicopters. Now you know the rest of the story…”Gu-day”! Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia. I came so close. Ah well .Call George Pisa and ask him to tell you his story…
