Barton Hall 5/8/77

the May 8, 1977 show at Cornell University's Barton Hall is considered by many to be the best Grateful Dead show of all time. This show has something for everyone, including new Deadheads, and is a good way to understand the band's unique qualities and wide range.

Great performance for sure. My first was 26 April, 1972 in Germany.
I like the Cornell show, but I think my all-time favorite (going out on a limb here) is probably 5/2/70 Harpur College. I love when the people in the crowd are yelling out requests and Garcia says “Relax, we’ve got you all night” or something like that. Maybe I need to listen again.
Thanks for this! I’m a VERY new fan, and it’s always great to get a rec for a special show. There are so many available now, so I appreciate being pointed towards any that are considered “Best of” as far as shows are concerned. Really enjoyed Begonias>Fire.
Of course Barton is great, but so much other from that year is great too. My favorite has to be Winterland 10/74. Find the 5 disc box set called Soundtrack to the Dead movie, best stuff I’ve ever heard. ☮️❤️🙏
I have Barton Hall. Along with other albums totaling about 240 Grateful Dead tunes. Barton Hall has some special tracks especially Morning Dew, Mama Tried, They Love Each Other
